Words of Wisdom

  • “Never continue in a job you don't enjoy. If you're happy in what you're doing, you'll like yourself, you'll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you'll have more success than you could possibly have imagined.”
    ~ Roger Caras

Job Postings

Hidden jobs are welcomed for sharing at If the job your neighbor, friend or family shared with you is not right for you, it might be perfect for an August Group colleague.  This is a great place for practicing "give to get." With 1600 members, what can happen here when members own the content?

We welcome volunteers to coordinate the job postings on a weekly basis. Employers and members submit jobs that must be readied for inclusion in the newsletter.  A lack of help means fewer jobs get posted in a timely manner. Why not be the first one to see new postings??!!

New August Group Website Launched

This past Friday The August Group launched its fresh new look. You've likely received an email instructing you of your login id and password. Visit the site and share your feedback with any listed in the About Us - Contact list.

If you have not received an email, you'll find instructions prominently on the home page. Please be patient as we work out first week kinks. More to come in the coming weeks on tips and features. Many thanks to John Bayley for spearheading this initiative in his "spare time" and for Ken Tryon, our web geek volunteer, for his tireless efforts over the years quietly working behind the scenes keeping us all connected online for years. Many others had a hand in making this effort come to life including Rob Kostin and France MacDonald recently. Others to be noted in future articles.

LinkedIn Group - Connecting with Connectors

The LinkedIn Group of The August Group continues to grow now including more than 200 members. There is a queue of interested professionals who have applied that will have the group eclipsing 300 members soon.

Requirements for approval

The LinkedIn Group is a subset of The August Group including the savviest of networkers, the well-connected. There are two requirements for memberships: Members must be registered August Group members having attended August Group events, either social mixers at Johnny's Irish Pub monthly or weekly general sessions at The Bagel Bin, St. Cecilia's, or at or satellites in Victor or Spencerport; members must have 100 connections in LinkedIn for permanent inclusion in this group. After having achieved 50 connections conditional approval is granted and members are granted another 60 days to achieve 100 connections.

New Opportunities to Connect and Stay Connect.. on the way to work

Previously working members of The August Group could only reconnect at the monthly evening gatherings at Johnny's Irish Pub or at St Cecilia's. Recently we've added new opportunities to gather and connect in the morning on the way to work.

Each Monday morning 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. at The Bagel Bin networking and LinkedIn training will be hosted by Greg Taylor and Mike Mazzochetti, August Group co-Founders. On Wednesday mornings Tracey Aiello hosts at The Bagel Bin networking from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.

Join us for a cup of coffee and a bagel on the way to work.
